CORRI LA VITA

HEALTH VILLAGE

From Friday, September 26th to Sunday, September 29th, from 10 AM to 5 PM, prevention and sports activities will be held in Piazza della Repubblica in Florence.
On the occasion of the 22nd edition of CORRI LA VITA, from Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th, Piazza della Repubblica hosted the Health Village. For three days, from 10 AM to 5 PM, one of the central squares of Florence transformed into a true fitness center, created in collaboration with various local organizations in Florence and Tuscany to encourage citizens to take care of themselves through sports and prevention, offering a rich program of free activities. In Piazza della Repubblica, the brand-new Ispro Mobile Unit was present, featuring a brand new mammography machine fully funded by CORRI LA VITA. Women who had already received an invitation for screening or are due for it this year were able to undergo mammograms on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, Ispro operators were available for breast assessments, collection of samples for colorectal screening, and to provide information on cancer prevention. Women undergoing mammography had also the opportunity to take an HCV test at the same time. From October onward, the unit will be used as part of a broader cancer prevention project developed by Ispro with the support of CORRI LA VITA, which will involve all neighborhoods of Florence. Exclusively on Saturday, September 28th, and Sunday, September 29th, the Lilt Florence camper was set up in Piazza della Signoria, where free screenings for melanoma prevention were conducted. In Piazza della Repubblica, participants took part in numerous activities offered by the fitness program curated and managed by Michele Franzone, a fitness and wellness consultant, in collaboration with the best fitness studios in Florence (including Silvia Tozzi Lo Studio Esse, Yoga Garage and Officina 14). The program, titled “Back to the Roots,” featured classes in gymnastics, yogalates, flowfit, postural exercises, and Pilates, as well as experiences and osteopathic treatments, aptitude tests, sports massages, and decontracting massages provided by professionals from Officina 14. The common goal was to “live here and now, without haste and without measures.
At the “Pillole di Salute” gazebo, attendees had the opportunity to engage in conversations with nutritionists and sports doctors, as well as pick up free information sheets specially created for CORRI LA VITA by Dr. Simonetta Salvini, a dietitian from LILT Florence. Participants could also receive various gifts, gadgets, and discount cards provided by Conad Nord Ovest and Barberino Outlet. Additionally, they could contribute to the fundraising efforts by tasting a gelato from Badiani at their new shop on Via Tosinghi. At the gazebo, LILT and File volunteers continued distributing CORRI LA VITA t-shirts until supplies ran out, even on Sunday morning.
