HEALTH VILLAGE
On Saturday, September 23rd, and Sunday, September 24th, 2023, prevention and sports activities in Piazza della Repubblica in Florence
For the first time, the “Health Village” was set up in Piazza della Repubblica, where ISPRO participated in the event with its own Mobile Unit, equipped with a state-of-the-art mammography machine, to promote cancer prevention activities, specifically targeting breast cancer. The Mobile Unit and ISPRO operators were available to the public on Saturday, September 23rd, from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Sunday, September 24th, from 8 AM to 1 PM. During the event, ISPRO ensured that mammographic exams were performed.
Women who had already scheduled appointments for mammographic screening or were otherwise eligible for this year had the opportunity to undergo mammograms. Additionally, women needing breast assessments outside the regular screening activities could book diagnostic exams. Mammograms were performed following an appropriateness evaluation by the ISPRO radiologist present on the mobile unit.
On September 23rd and 24th, the ISPRO staff present at the Mobile Unit also provided information and resources on cancer prevention and the various screening programs available.
At the “Health Village,” attendees could also participate in classes led by instructors from Pilates One and Stilnuovo and undergo health tests conducted by Health Farm (Friday, September 22nd, and Saturday, September 23rd, from 10 AM to 5 PM; Sunday, September 24th, from 10 AM to 1 PM) and collect t-shirts from the specially set-up gazebo.
