On September 29, marking the twenty-second edition of CORRI LA VITA, Italy’s first non-competitive running event that combines solidarity, health, and culture, a flood of participants will wind their way from Parco delle Cascine to the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza della Signoria.

Participants can choose between two routes of varying difficulty – one approximately 11 km for those who want to run and another 6 km for those who prefer to enjoy cultural landmarks along the way.

Additionally, the “Health Village” will be set up in Piazza della Repubblica, where from Friday the 27th to Sunday the 29th, participants can undergo mammograms at the ISPRO mobile unit, follow fitness and Pilates classes, take aptitude tests, consult with nutritionists and sports doctors, and pick up their T-shirts at a special gazebo.

CORRI LA VITA will offer everyone the chance to spend a unique weekend in Florence: participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the city’s most beautiful sites for free, such as Palazzo Strozzi, featuring the new exhibition “Helen Frankenthaler: Painting without Rules”, the Ferragamo Museum with “Salvatore Ferragamo 1898-1960”, the Museum of the Innocents, the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory, the Santa Croce Complex, the Natural History Museum La Specola, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Museum HZero, the Stibbert Museum, and many others.

NEW: Those coming from out of town and wishing to stay at Human Company accommodations on the outskirts of Florence can use the discount code “CORRILAVITA24”, which offers a 10% reduction on stays at the hu Firenze camping in town. The coupon can be entered during booking on the website and is valid for the nights of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 27, 28, and 29, 2024.

The graphic testimonial for this edition is the recently restored equestrian statue of Cosimo I by Giambologna, located in Piazza della Signoria, which will be adorned with the CORRI LA VITA T-shirt for the occasion.

Starting September 1, you can secure one of the 37,000 coveted T-shirts designed by Ferragamo, in Green Forest (dark green), with fully bio-compostable packaging.

To participate in the event, you must register on the website from September 1, make a minimum donation of 10 euros, and collect your T-shirt either online or at designated distribution points.

The CORRI LA VITA Onlus Association has always invested everything it collects in concrete support and prevention projects for women who have to face the battle against breast cancer.

This year, CORRI LA VITA, in collaboration with Senonetwork, the national network of Breast Units, is focusing on two important aspects of breast cancer care:

1. Training Young Specialists By funding ten scholarships of five thousand euros each, these are aimed at medical and non-medical healthcare personnel working in multidisciplinary groups dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of breast cancer patients. This project is dedicated to Angelo Di Leo, head oncologist of the Nuovo Ospedale di Prato – S. Stefano, who devoted his life to cancer research and treatment, particularly breast cancer.

2. Research Projects:
A 2-year scholarship worth 50,000€: This scholarship will allow a doctor to conduct the Pink Study at the breast diagnostic unit of Careggi. This multicenter project, supported by the Veronesi Foundation and conducted by CNR Pisa, collects data on breast diagnostic exams and risk factors related to lifestyle and dietary habits in patients aged 40 and above. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of different diagnostic exams in detecting malignant lesions and to assess the correlation between lifestyle and dietary habits and the incidence of breast cancer.
A 2-year scholarship worth 50,000€ This scholarship aims to enhance the biological characterization of breast tumors to optimize treatment, which should be tailored in each case to achieve maximum effectiveness and reduce adverse effects.
A 2-year scholarship worth 50,000€: This scholarship is for improving the identification of women carrying genetic mutations that predispose them to breast cancer, requiring specific diagnostic surveillance and treatment methods.

3. Quality Control in Breast Units:
– The aim of this project is to collect data at the national level (Senonet) for evaluation, auditing, and scientific production purposes, with the goal of ensuring the quality of breast cancer care in the centers affiliated with Senonetwork.

Additionally, CORRI LA VITA has always supported:
Ce.Ri.On.: The ISPRO-LILT Oncology Rehabilitation Center at Villa delle Rose.
SenoNetwork: The portal that brings together all Italian Breast Units.
FILE: The Italian Foundation for Palliative Care Onlus.

CORRI LA VITA has been able to count on several partners since its first edition, ensuring the event’s success: LILT Firenze and Firenze Marathon with their many volunteers, as well as the consultancy of Associazione Città Nascosta.
